UX/UI internship
Sep 2024—Feb 2025

Online Department is a Rotterdam based digital design agency focused on UX, service design, and product strategy, working for organizations that want to improve or innovate their digital services. In my third year of CMD, I completed an internship there, where I was able to observe and participate in their professional design workflow. This experience gave me a clear view of how a specialized UX team operates in real client projects.
professional attitude
During my internship at Online Department I became more proactive and deliberate in how I work. I learned to ask for feedback earlier, set clearer boundaries when my workload became too high, and communicate my progress through structured presentations. Stepping out of my comfort zone, especially with internal talks and end-of-year reflections. It made me more confident in presenting myself as a designer.

design skills
On the design side, I deepened my skills in Figma, especially in building fully responsive interfaces with auto-layout and working across multiple breakpoints. I explored motion design for real client work, learning how to create micro-animations that are both engaging and technically handoff-ready for development (e.g. Lottie/JSON constraints). Across projects, I became better at turning abstract ideas into clear, consistent UI that works across devices.

ux research
I strengthened my UX research skills by helping prepare and run interviews, usability tests, benchmarking and co-creation sessions with stakeholders. I learned to distinguish assumptions from real insights, formulate better questions, and pay attention to both what users say and how they behave. Working with diverse target groups made me more aware of different needs, motivations and contexts and how to translate those into design decisions.
